Rowe Family--Hurley, Virginia

The Rowe Family received a call that Chris was in the hospital on life support. He was in cardiac arrest and had brain damage due to lack of oxygen.

The family rushed to Roanoke Memorial Hospital--4 hours away from their home--where they stayed for 4 weeks weeks. They received financial support from their community, but with the cost of hotels and everything we still needed help. "Thanks to The Hospitality House of the Blue Ridge we was able to get the help we needed so we could continue to stay with Chris.

We will forever be thankful to them for all [their] help.”

Sheila McCarty

In 2022, Sheila's husband--an avid motorcycle rider-went out with a friend for one last ride of the season. He had a wreck while riding, suffering three broken ribs, a broken clavicle bone, and three head fractures. He was flown to Roanoke Memorial Hospital.

The McCarty Family drove 2 hours from home to the hospital. My daughter-in-law, Miracle, was aware of the Hospitality House and contacted them. Through donations made from family and friends to the Hospitality House we were able to have a nice hotel room (complimentary hot breakfast) close to the hospital for the next two weeks that we would be there.

My husband, Dale, was in the trauma unit with severe brain injury and never gained consciousness and succumbed to his injuries. I am grateful to the Hospitality House for staying in touch with us the whole time we were there. This is truly a wonderful gift for all who need help at such a traumatic time.
